Art is my drive, just about everything that is around my has a link to the art world. The work i produce in my life is my way of expressing my self. Art is who i am and every part of me. I have so much to learn and am very excited to start my journey.

Artist Statement
Interlacing Words and Form
Liric Yarborough
Artist Statement
Liric Yarborough
Artist Statement
My
paintings juxtapose bright colors and dynamic writing to form a rhythmic,
visual poem that tells the story of my life. I combine poetry and mixed
media to create an imagined visual structure that is both typographical and
abstract in element. My structures are treated like large diary pages
where each piece is a personal message to help reveal who I am.
I
began as a painter but as I learned about the variety of materials I could
incorporate within my work, I began to diversify, and now use fabric, acrylic
paint, gel mediums, thread, rice paper and cloth. I also increased my mark
making to include words and text. Creating images that start an open
dialogue with the viewers is vital. The intent is to share in conversation and
creates a vocabulary that combines the enjoyment of words, colors and materials
to compose a single message. All this
variety has helped imbue my work with a natural quality.
